For SK, this is nothing further than the truth as he cannot let a day pass without music. To him, music is a language. His father played an instrumental role too as he was a self-taught musician who played the guitar very well. SK started learning music when he was six years old. The innate talent was evident in him being able to pick up music notes faster than others. In secondary school, he joined the band and rose to become the drum major.
SK graduated in the Diploma in Music and Audio as his number one choice. He also headed the Jazz Band and took great pains to raise the standards of the Band.SK enjoys using music to reach out to communities. Together with other like-minded musicians, they formed a symphonic band to reach out to audiences here and in Malaysia. The experience made him appreciate the opportunities and resources available to him as a music lover, especially when he saw how some musicians had to make do with poorer facilities and instruments. He also went to Harbin in China for three weeks to learn about Chinese music and art.
SK, plays the piano, bass guitar, drums and violin and enjoys listening to jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davies and Bill Evans. He hopes to secure a National Arts Council scholarship to study music at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, United States. He plans to build up his portfolio and improve his proficiency during his national service so as to secure performing opportunities on the international stage.
